Casale Marittimo

It is as old as Etruscan history and it became a town around the year 1000. The town sits on a hill overlooking the plain with Cecina to the north-west and the sea and the Tuscan archipelago to the west. The countryside around the town is well populated and cultivated, producing fine wines, olive oil and honey. The historic centre of this ancient little town with its narrow streets and houses built entirely of stone evokes times long past. Traditional town fairs and concerts are held here during the summer. Shops for all basic necessities, public services and several good restaurants can all be found in the town. The sea and the beaches at Marina di Cecina and Marina di Bibbona are 12-14 km away.
